November 9, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm EST
No One Reinvents Alone
ReinventionWorks, in partnership with the Delaware Business Times, is pleased to be co-hosting Exploring Reinvention: Preparing to Deliberately Change Your Career, Your Business, or Your Life, the life-altering event you won’t want to miss!
If you’re considering any major change, how can you best prepare for the journey ahead? What do you need to know? What are the 21 major pitfalls you need to avoid? Who can you turn to for help?
All of these questions and more will be answered in this engaging, interactive, live event on Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 from 6:00 – 9:30pm at the Delaware Art Museum. Hear from an esteemed panel of real-life Reinventionists:
Ellyn Hutton — Ellyn was an emergency room nurse for 19 years, then an insurance case manager, work that left her so stressed and unfulfilled she grew concerned for her health. She quit and enrolled in a program to learn massage therapy at a time when her practice was listed in the Yellow Pages along with gentlemen’s clubs. Ellyn has since expanded her practice into other mind-body healing arts.
Judy Vilmain — after earning her Ph.D., Judy became a college professor. Then she became a furniture designer followed by founding a successful giftware manufacturing company, which she sold. She is now an oil painter, a hypnotherapist and a book author.
Natalie Nixon, PhD — In college, Natalie double-majored in Anthropology and Africana Studies. Six years later she returned to school to get her Masters in Global Textile Marketing and then found work overseas at a sourcing firm whose customers included Victoria’s Secret, among others. In 2001 she began teaching at Philadelphia University, and in 2010 she obtained her PhD in Design Management. Natalie is now the Philadelphia University G. Allen Mebane IV ’52 Chair for Design Thinkers where she is also the Director of the Strategic Design MBA.
Sanjay Kamani — Sanjay started out as an project engineer for an elevator company. He then took himself into the worlds of technology and entrepreneurship, where he has also had to reinvent his own businesses more than once.
The Moderator: Hollis Thomases, Founder, ReinventionWorks – Hollis knows a thing or two about reinventing. After graduating college, she moved to Baltimore knowing no one and having no job. After a 10-year career working for trade associations, small businesses and large corporations alike, she left it all in 1998 to start her first company. Growing it over 15 years into a multi-million dollar award-winning business, Hollis faced a crossroads: burned out, stressed out, and growing ever more disillusioned with her industry, she decided it was time to close shop and move on to her next incarnation. It was the pursuit of her own reinvention that led her to realize how many others were also on their own journeys, and no one does it alone. ReinventionWorks was born.
